Joanne has been the director of Uzima Centre since 2006. She first arrived in Tanzania in 1984 and initially worked in a rural clinic. Joanne married and raised her four children in Tanzania. Her role as the director of Uzima Centre enables her to use both her medical background and her knowledge of the Tanzanian culture to work with the people to help improve their quality of life.
